Hello everybody,

We’ve had a good run, but due to the limited site use and the general lack of motivation to continue work (in this form), Beatmatched.org will soon be closing its doors.

Aside from our own internal administrative confusion and lack of clear direction, the site never really got the use or care that we originally envisioned. If we are to be completely honest, there was never any real motivation for someone to use the site at all, when there are so many other alternatives that do specific things better (Soundcloud, etc.). The amount of work (and directive vision) required to make the site truly useful on its own far outweighed the benefits of doing so, and as a result the easier route (for both us and our users) was and is to use those alternative services.

That is not to say that we do not appreciate the support of our fans and users. Quite the opposite; if it were not for you we would not be here today at all, and it is only because of you that the site exists in the first place.

To our DJs: Thank you providing so much great content over the couple short years we’ve had the site operational. It is great to see such fantastic content coming from local individuals, and we hope that you will continue to contribute your work elsewhere (I suspect many of you already do). We will be sending you an email, just in case you miss this announcement, that outlines the details of when and how we will be shutting down, as well as providing a way for you to access your submitted content for a short while after the site shuts down.

To our fans and users: We hope you’ve enjoyed the content we’ve provided, and urge you continue supporting our DJs work, wherever they decide to provide it. Most of all, thank you for your support over the years. It is you that made the site worth providing, and it is only with great regret that we abandon you now.
